Orange
This includes an interim target to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% compared to 2015 levels by 2025, and to ensure that 50% of the Group’s energy will come from renewables. Net Zero Tracker
Orange's target covers scope 1 and 2 emissions, and partially covers scope 3 emissions. Net Zero Tracker
An interesting fact about their environmental policy is that they have a publicly available plan that outlines the steps towards achieving their target, and they provide annual reporting on their progress. Net Zero Tracker

Sector Benchmark
Note: Latest GHG and revenue data (based on tradingview.com) are used to calculate GHG emissions intensity by sector. The color scale of each bubble depends on the GHG intensity (GHG emissions per 1 million USD revenue). Sectors follow the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) that organize companies based on their primary business activities. The 11 sectors are : Information Technology, Health Care, Financials, Consumer Discretionary, Communication Services, Industrials, Consumer Staples, Energy, Utilities, Real Estate, and Materials.
Orange belongs to the sector Communication Services.

Orange commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 29.6% by 2025 from a 2018 base year. Orange commits to reduce its scope 3 emissions 14% by 2025 from a 2018 base year.

Separate targets for emission reductions and removals | Yes |
Conditions on use of offset credits | None |
Plans for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) | Yes (nature-based removals e.g. Forestation, soil carbon enhancement) |
Additional notes: By 2040, we aim to reduce our CO2 emissions by 90% (compared to 2020) by acting on scope 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. To achieve our Net Zero Carbon target, we will also reduce our 10% residual emissions by investing in carbon sequestration initiatives through physical and biological processes such as photosynthesis in oceans, forests, biomass, soils, etc. Orange Nature adds a new dimension to the carbon sequestration projects that we have been supporting for several years by boosting socio-economic development and preserving local biodiversity through carbon sink projects in Europe and MEA: in 2021, we joined the Livelihoods Carbon Fund 3 and co-launched a single-investor fund with Mirova. Overall, we aim to produce a significant volume of carbon credits and capture a large proportion of our residual CO2 by 2040.
